Introduction

D-APE (Digitize Adapted Physical Education) blog was put together by Dr. (Hon.) Kumaran Arumugam, an adaptive PE teacher from Lighthouse School(Singapore) who works with students mainly with sensory and multiple disabilities. With over 14 years of experience working as a sports coach and PE teacher in various mainstream and special needs schools, he has worked hard to make sports inclusive and accessible for students with disabilities. In recognition of his effort in the development of adaptive physical education locally and internationally, Dr. (Hon) Kumaran Arumugam was awarded Asia’s Best Adaptive Physical Education 2024 by Asia’s Award and the Universal Excellence Award 2024, for which he was also recognized as one of the best adaptive physical education teachers in the world. He was also the youngest recipient of an honorary doctorate in education specializing in adaptive physical education from AUBSS.
