Dr. Amrita Aggarwal is an accomplished academic and researcher with a strong foundation in Geography, whose work is marked by a commitment to leveraging geospatial technologies for social and environmental analysis. Her career, characterized by significant contributions to research, teaching, and academic innovation, showcases her expertise and dedication to advancing geographical studies.

Dr. Aggarwal’s academic qualifications are extensive, featuring a Ph.D. in Geography earned in 2021. Her educational background also includes a Master’s degree in Geography from 2014 from University of Mumbai. Her technical skills are broad, encompassing Basic Programming, GIS, and GPS, reflecting her ability to integrate technological tools with geographical research. She has further augmented her technical expertise with an Advanced Diploma in Computer Application and specialized training in Remote Sensing and GIS from the University of Mumbai, along with certifications in ArcGIS and GIS Programming through Python. Additionally, she has completed online courses in GIS from ISRO and IIRS, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and adaptation in her field.

In her role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Nagindas Khandwala College- Empowered Autonomous, Dr. Aggarwal has accumulated ten years of teaching experience. Her publication record is notable, with six papers in UGC Care Listed Journals, twelve ISSN publications, and sixteen ISBN publications. She has presented eight papers at international conferences and twenty-two at national conferences, indicating her active participation in the academic community and her commitment to sharing research findings.

 Dr. Aggarwal is a member of the Regional Science Association (Kolkata) and the Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA, Dehradun), highlighting her engagement with professional networks. Her research has been recognized with numerous awards, including the ‘Award for Best Research Scholar’ by The Asian Education Leadership Symposium and Awards in 2023, and several ‘Best Paper Awards’ at conferences such as NKGDD 2016, RADAV College, and others. She received the International Young Scientist Award for Best Oral Presentation at the 7th International Science Congress in Bhutan in 2017. Her innovative work is further evidenced by a patent received under the Government of India for a ‘System Enabled Tracking of True Information in Social Media during Elections’. Her commitment to research is also demonstrated by her receipt of The Gulestan Billimoria Junior Research Fellowship from the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, which supported her project on the socio-economic and environmental status of newly urbanized tehsils in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This fellowship from September 2021 to October 2022 allowed her to delve into critical urban development issues in Southern Thane District.

Dr. Aggarwal has contributed to the academic community as a resource person in fourteen instances and has actively participated in numerous workshops, seminars, and conferences, including international conferences in India and abroad. She has also organized six workshops and five conferences, demonstrating her leadership and organizational skills. Her international exposure includes a visit to Bhutan in 2017.

Her expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing is not only evident from her certifications and courses but also from her practical application of these technologies in her research and teaching. She effectively combines traditional geographical studies with modern technological tools, enhancing her analysis of geographical phenomena.
