Prof. Anandan began his educational journey at SLB High School in his hometown, followed by PUC at Scott Christian College. He pursued his medical degree from JIPMER, Pondicherry, completing his MBBS in 1981. Driven by a passion for dermatology, he went on to earn his D.D. in 1983 and M.D. in Dermatology and STD in 1984. During this time, he also served as a Registrar at JIPMER, gaining valuable clinical and academic experience.

In the initial phase of his professional life, Dr. Anandan worked with VHS, Adyar, Chennai, as a Project Coordinator from 1985 to 1986. He also received specialized training in leprosy at CLTRI, Chengalput.
