On August 22, 2021, R. Ganesan, a respected social activist from Pallapatti, Nilakottai Circle, Dindigul district, was honoured with the Perarinjar Anna Award. The award, jointly presented by the International Tamil University, Panchayat Malar, and News Tamil, recognised his outstanding contributions to social welfare and community service over the past 36 years.
R. Ganesan has dedicated his life to uplifting his community through welfare programs, sports initiatives, and social development activities. His relentless efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including the Trade Union Best Executive Award, People’s Sevakar Award, Kamarasar’s Tannalam Garba Award, and the Seva Ratna Award, all reflecting his impactful leadership and commitment.
His work has also been celebrated with the Rajaraja Cholan Award, acknowledging his influence on cultural and social progress. As the Co-operative Press Secretary for the Dindigul District, Nilakottai Circle, and International Secretary of Tamil University, his leadership has driven several state-level initiatives, including the State Public Youth Uprising.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, R. Ganesan’s dedication stood out as he was awarded the Corona Kal Corporation Purity Award, recognising his efforts in safeguarding community health and welfare.
His leadership in the cooperative movement and various workers’ rights platforms — including the Workers’ Progress Legislative Assembly and the Perarinjar Anna Virudhu Sangh — has further established his reputation as a champion of the people. He has also been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award as Secretary of the Circle Cooperative Press and the Tamil Sanaipadyum East District Award.
The award ceremony, attended by several dignitaries including the Honourable Minister E. Periyasamy, celebrated R. Ganesan’s lifelong journey of service, leadership, and positive social impact.
