Sri Prafulla Keot – A Lifetime Devoted to Education and Excellence

Sri Prafulla Keot, a distinguished educationist from Sonitpur, Assam, has dedicated over 37 years and 5 months of his life to teaching and nurturing young minds in the field of Zoology. A retired State Awardee and National Awardee Subject Teacher, his journey stands as a remarkable testament to discipline, dedication, and service to society.

Beginning his career in the Department of Zoology at Darang College (1989–1992), he later joined Narengkati Higher Secondary School on 2nd September 1992 as a Subject Teacher of Zoology. After decades of exemplary service, he retired on 31st January 2025, having also been re-employed for a year in recognition of his receipt of the prestigious Meritorious Teacher Award (2020).

Beyond classroom teaching, Sri Keot has shouldered multiple responsibilities in educational and cultural domains. He has served as District Coordinator for CCRT (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India), Coordinator of the DDR Project, Resource Person for teacher training at state and national levels, Master Trainer in mental health, life skills, and career guidance, and District Coordinator for the New India Literacy Programme. His leadership also extended to social initiatives such as the Anti-Tobacco Campaign, Biodiversity and Environmental Building projects, and youth mentorship programmes.

His illustrious career is decorated with numerous awards and recognitions, including:

  • National Smart Teacher Award – Shaikshik Aagaaz, Uttar Pradesh (2020)

With his vast contributions spanning academics, training, socio-cultural development, and literacy programmes, Sri Prafulla Keot has left behind an indelible mark on education in Assam and beyond.
