Brief about UAL – BENGAL

UAL-BENGAL, a unit of UAL Industries Limited, is the largest manufacturer of “KONARK” brand Fibre – Cement Corrugated Sheets, Building Boards, Moulded goods and Roofing accessories to meet the demands of the housing and related sectors. In Eastern India Fibre – Cement corrugated sheets provide the most economical and dependable alternative to other forms of housing materials and thus “KONARK” brand products are used extensively in domestic roofing, industrial roofing and rural housing.

The manufacturing plant is situated about 25 Km from Kharagpur on National-Highway No. 6 near Guptamani temple.

In the year 1999 the company had set up UAL – BENGAL at a tribal village of Tungadhowa in the Paschim Midnapur District of West Bengal. Since 1999 UAL-BENGAL has increased its production capacity ten fold and at present its installed capacity stands at 2,50,000MT/Annum & the annual turnover of the company is around Rs 249 crores. The company have another three manufacturing unit at Dhenkanal, Orissa, operating since 1979 ; at near Varanasi, UP operating since 2006 and at Bagnan, West Bengal operating since 2012 respectively.

The company employs directly about 492 people, and indirectly around 300 more, out of which almost 90% from local villages.

The total capital investments made in the plant as on date is about Rs. 45.35 crores.  Out of which Rs. 2.33 crores have been spent on Pollution Control and Environmental Management Plans.  The recurring expenditure for maintaining Environmental Management and Pollution Control Systems is around Rs. 110 lakhs per annum. The company is working on the principle of Zero Waste and Zero Effluent management by adopting clean development mechanism. UAL – BENGAL is committed to keep sustainable and eco-friendly environment in and around the factory premises for which it has been conferred the following prestigious awards:-
