Sri Subhasish Bose: A Trailblazer in Social Welfare and Community Service

Sri Subhasish Bose, a seasoned Company Secretary and former Chairman of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Eastern India Regional Council, has been deeply engaged in social work since 1995. His commitment to community development spans nearly three decades, reflecting his dedication to empowering underprivileged groups, especially women and children. In July 1995, Bose joined the Rotary Club, and in April 2021, he extended his community involvement by becoming a member of Lions International, aligning his vision with organizations that share his passion for service.

One of His primary contributions has been providing vocational training at no cost for underprivileged girls in the neighborhoods of Dhakuria, Barabagan, and at a girls’ home in Kasba. Through training in Spoken English and Basic Computer Skills, he has provided these young women with valuable skills, empowering them to pursue better educational and employment opportunities. This initiative, sustained for over two decades, demonstrates Bose’s belief in the transformative power of education as a tool for social upliftment.

His dedication to education extends beyond vocational training. Recognizing the need for accessible learning resources, he has established several public libraries in West Bengal. These libraries, located in Tatla village (Nadia District), Madhusudhan Chak (Sundarbans), Baruipur, Mayapur, Salt Lake, and Aranghata, provide free access to books and serve as community knowledge centers. Notably, He initiated a public library at the Kasba Club venue, housing over 5,000 books for public use, fostering a culture of reading and learning among local residents.

To promote financial literacy, Bose organizes annual Investor Awareness Programs in Kolkata, in collaboration with government bodies and financial organizations such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), NSE, SEBI, BSE, RBI, and LIC. He also partners with professional organizations, including those representing Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, and Cost Accountants, to equip citizens with crucial financial knowledge. These programs aim to empower individuals with a better understanding of financial planning, investment, and risk management, thereby fostering informed financial decision-making among the public.

In addition to his educational and financial literacy efforts, He is committed to improving public health and social welfare. Each year, he organizes blood donation drives, health check-up camps, and thalassemia awareness initiatives to promote health awareness and facilitate access to healthcare services. His initiatives also include distributing garments, essential medicines, and food to those in need, providing essential support to underprivileged communities. By addressing fundamental needs, His welfare initiatives help uplift individuals and families, reinforcing his holistic approach to social service.

His relentless dedication to community service has earned him multiple awards, recognizing his contributions to education, financial literacy, and public welfare. His accolades include the International Education Award 2021, the Lions International District 322B1 Awards from 2022 to 2024, the Glory Award 2022, the Global Business Education Award 2023, the Indian ICON Award 2024, and the Bengal Excellence Award 2024. These honors reflect the impact of his work and his unwavering commitment to social responsibility.

His journey is marked by a consistent drive to serve others and improve lives within his community. Through education, health initiatives, and financial awareness programs, he has made a lasting difference, empowering individuals and promoting social equity. His legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and a commitment to meaningful social change, inspiring others to follow his example of dedicated service.
